POTATO SOUP

Made an excellent potato soup today, with purple and Yukon Gold spuds, half a red onion, and a carrot. Unlike most of my cooking of late, it actually turned out rich and flavorful, and was a welcome complement to the chilly damp just outside. I then attempted to make pesto with the huge bunch of leftover basil that was wilting on the counter, which inevitably failed due to the crapitude of our blender. Note: when buying your own blender, do not opt for the $20 plastic crap. THe crap kind does not double as a food processor. Not even remotely.
