YOU KNOW WHAT’S REALLY BIZARRE?

you know what’s really bizarre? if you keep up with science news this is probably old hat for you, but i recently discovered from science.nasa.gov that extremely large objects can act as gravitational lenses, making objects beyond them seem distorted to telescopes on earth (or anywhere else this side of the lens). extremely large objects like galaxies or balckholes actually exert enough graviational force to bend the light emitted from distant objects, resulting in multiple images and nifty patterns. instead of the refraction that would occur with a glass lens, the light is actually bent by gravity. i think that’s remarkably boss.
