BACK TO HUCKLEBERRY BOTANIC

Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve is really a very cool little place. It hasn’t got much for views, or even sunshine, since most of it’s along northeast-facing bank of a ravine, but it seems like a great place for interesting flora and fungi. I actually had company this weekend (that makes two weekends in a row, shock!), in the form of Maggie and Jessie, who were kind enough to tolerate my repeatedly abrupt dashes off trail to photograph some weird little slimy thing. Didn’t find as many chanterelles as the last time, and they weren’t in exactly the same place. The rain we had a few days ago wasn’t much, so maybe that has something to do with it. Hounds tongue and forget-me-not is still in abundance, the manzanita are in bloom, and we even saw some giant wakerobin! We also saw lots of poison oak, which which I mean I saw lots of poison oak, by which I mean I touched lots of poison oak, by which I mean I stripped down and fashioned a dapper little three piece suit out of poison oak and did a little dance. Le sigh.
