· 30TH OF APRIL, THE YEAR 2006SWEET SLUGS, HOW I’VE MISSED YOU
I ventured out on my first tidepooling jaunt in a while this weekend, accompanied by Messrs. Jones and Iwane. The destination was Duxbury Reef, once again, and yielded three new species of nudibranch for me! It’s sad how much I’ve come to obsess over my beloved nudis to the exclusion of the rest of the wonderful and fascinating biota out there, but I fear the only cure for my malady is the discovery and documentation of every species in this area, which is another way of saying I am doomed.

Cuthona divae

Doto sp.
Most likely Doto kya, but D. columbiana is also a possibility. My book didn’t seem to have the diagnostic characters I’ve found on the web, so I couldn’t make the distinction in the field.
I also saw United 93 on Friday, and though I began writing up my thoughts on the movie they just looked so stupid in text that I didn’t think they warranted saving. In the shell of a very small and rotten nut, I don’t think the film’s social and political neutrality is a downfall, I don’t think it had to “say” anything to be good, and I do think that simply revisiting the events of 9/11 without too much added drama is worthwhile. Just not sure why.
