TRIPPING

As some of you are aware, I’m planning an insane cross-country-and-back-again roadtrip that I will embark upon in under two weeks, tentatively entitled The Monumentally Epic Trek Across These United States of America. In the last week of May, I will book it back to CT, and from thence to the Purple Valley to witness my brother’s graduation (labeled “Tomio Leaves Midgar” on my calendar). Then, I will spend the last 3 weeks in June winding my way across the South and Southwest, until I arrive back here in Oakland. The plan is to meet up with old friends, consume many smoked meats, seek out interesting flora and fauna, and explore this great nation of ours. Here’s a very rough map of my path (apologies for the terrible Google Earth cartography, I don’t have the energy for a good map):

Since I’ve never attempted a voyage of this scale, I’d love some advice from you hardened road warriors. Gear? Must-see places? How to keep my car from exploding? And hey, if it looks like you’ll be somewhere along my Southern path in June, drop me a line, and maybe I’ll drop by.
