WELL, THIS WEEKS RANDOM WAS

well, this weeks random was gonna be all about comic strips, but just when i’d finished my computer crashed and i lost what i’d written and i just didn’t have the heart to rewrite it. so i’m just gonna list some nifty lynx.

Doonesbury Electronic Town Hall: home of the all mighty Gary Trudeau’s brainchild. Doonesbury is by far the most intellectual comic strip in the papers, and although the art might not be as creative as other strips, the biting wit and political commentary blows all the others out of the water.

The Last Day of Calvin and Hobbes: calvin and hobbes was, without question, the best comic strip ever to grace newsprint. The sheer fullnes of the strip – the humor, the intelligent commentary, the playfulness, and the morality – have made Calvin and Hobbes one of the major influences on my life, and that’s not something i say lightly. it is of course, no more, but the fact that it has an ending just goes to show how much creator bill watterson cared for the strip (he yanked to avoid commercialism). this site provides some good info on the strip, but i urge you to go out and buy the treasuries and read them for yourself.

uexpress: one of the big syndicates, they carry abunch of the comics you see in the papers.

United Media: another big syndicate.
