· 28TH OF SEPTEMBER, THE YEAR 2005MINOR BREAKDOWN
Today I drove up and down University Ave. between San Pablo and MLK about 5 times in search of a JiffyLube that I had been to before, in vain. Distressed at this apparent rupture in the fabric of reality, I decided to drive up into Tilden in search of small bugs suitable for my small mantid, which hasn’t been eating. I didn’t find any, and somehow I ended up in Orinda. Then I drove back over to a repair shop in Berkeley, but they wanted $55 for an oil change, so I went home. This took 2 hours. I felt this odd sort of panic during these proceedings, as if one part of my brain was about to stop the car, get out and cry, while another part decided that would cost far too much energy. My primary joy in life these days is watching my bigger mantid (Gamblor) devour crickets.
