PRE-DARWINIAN NATURALIST ART

This NYTimes article on a recent Frederic Edwin Church exhibition mentions that some consider the Hudson River School style to represent a pre-Darwinian conception of the world, one in which nature is orderly and beautiful by design. Fair enough, but then what would post-Darwinian art look like? Are there any twentieth century or contemporary artists who depict nature in light of evolution, or whose style seems informed by an understanding of life born of evolution?
