REMOVING WHITE LINES FROM ARCSCENE EXPORTS

I was trying to export images from ESRI’s discontinued ArcScene for use in a poster, but I kept getting these patchy white lines running across my image, which wasn’t going to cut it for a poster-quality print. This was driving me crazy, until I realized that ArcScene actually downsamples the DEM to achieve those “snappy” rendering speeds, and it actually uses that downsampled DEM for exported images. The solution is to go to the properties of the layer that is giving you trouble, and under the Base Heights tab, click on the Raster Resolution button. Set the Base Surface cell sizes to match the Original surface. Obviously, rendering performance will slow down considerably, but at least you’ll be able to export files that are actually usable.
